While we’ve visited all of the gingerbread house displays for quality control research of the treats on offer, I haven’t always been traveling with the proper camera setup for photos of the displays. What better time than Christmas Eve to finish our pictorial tour of the gingerbread house displays at Walt Disney World? First, here’s a look back at some of our earlier coverage of most of the gingerbread displays at Walt Disney World.

Cinderella Castle Dream Lights Gingerbread House

Now, it’s time to visit Disney’s Contemporary Resort to check out the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights-inspired display. As you may know, the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights were a pre-COVID display on Cinderella Castle that draped the iconic structure in a stunning icicle display during the holiday season. There are a few working theories on why they haven’t returned post-COVID, but the end result is the same: no Dream Lights again in 2024.

That said, it’s not just fans who are nostalgic for the Dream Lights as the Contemporary bakery team was tasked by Walt Disney Imagineering with creating a Dream Lights-inspired display for the 2024 Holiday Season. Let’s take a look!

Cinderella Castle Dream Lights of yesteryear

The Cinderella Castle Dream Lights gingerbread display is all-new this year, departing from Mary Blair-inspired designs in recent times. This is the 13th year for Disney’s Contemporary Resort gingerbread display, which means that it received 13 sprinkling of pixie dust. The display measures 17’6″ tall by 25’4″ wide and it contains over 4,000 gingerbread bricks made and decorated by 40 Cast Members. Other fun facts include:

  • 1013 pounds of flour
  • 613 pounds of sugar
  • 513 eggs
  • 440 jars of honey
  • 113 pounds of gingerbread spice
  • 70 pounds of modeling chocolate
  • 60 pounds of fondant
  • 43 pounds of royal icing
  • 30 days to assemble
  • 25 pounds of chocolate
  • 13 gallons of milk
  • 13 hidden Mickeys
  • 1 hidden 5-legged goat

It looks like Cast Members who worked on the display have placed their initials in Mickey Mouse gingerbread heads along the perimeter of the display stage.
