Following weeks of the water level slowly dipping, likely due to evaporation or, perhaps, a leak of some sort, Walt Disney World has finally begun draining the Rivers of America proper. As you can see in our photos below, the water level has gone down significantly in a very short period of time – indicating that Walt Disney World has finally started to pump the river. The water level is so low that the track is exposed, along with accumulated muck on the bottom of the concrete riverbed. Here’s a look around!
Walt Disney World Begins Draining Rivers of America
As we said in an earlier report, we’ll be able to measure the time to drain the river in days, not weeks, once Disney started the process of draining it. We expect that the river will be dry in very short order now that draining has actually begun. As you can see, the water level is significantly lower today than it has been in recent days and weeks.
Walt Disney World is draining the Rivers of America ahead of a large-scale demolition of the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. A portion of the freed-up land will be for the Piston Peak National Park Cars-themed expansion of Frontierland. Another portion of the land is expected to be earmarked for the upcoming Villains Land.
Here’s a look at the Rivers of America during our visit to Magic Kingdom this morning!
