In a shareholder meeting this afternoon, Disney CEO Bob Iger was asked about Disney’s use of Figment. Iger, with a chuckle, said that he has been asked about Figment in a majority of his 20+ shareholder meetings. Iger seemed to share some enjoyment of the Figment character, and said that he would direct Disney’s creative teams to expand Disney’s use of the lovable dragon.
Bob Iger Wants to See More Figment
Iger said that he would ask Disney’s creative teams to consider making short-form videos of Figment. Iger noted that Figment is popular at EPCOT where Figment has an attraction and a meet and greet. That said, Iger said that Disney also understands that Figment is popular enough that fans want to see more Figment beyond the parks, and Iger agrees.
While many theme park fans surely want to see an update to the Journey Into Imagination with Figment attraction, Iger didn’t mention an attraction update, instead choosing to focus on some short-form videos.
As prepared as these types of shareholder meetings are, this seemed like an off-the-cuff comment from Iger, but one that he will hopefully follow through on. Of course, it’s far too early to speculate about when we’d see more Figment.
