A few days ago, we exclusively reported that there was about 10 acres of backstage parking lot cleared and ready for the construction of the Monsters Inc. Land at Hollywood Studios. The parking lot in question is located “behind” the former Muppets Courtyard area, which is where the door vault roller coaster will eventually be located. Now, friend of the site Bioreconstruct has taken to the skies over Disney’s Hollywood Studios to provide some visual evidence to our earlier reporting.

Cast Member Parking Lot Cleared for Monsters Inc. Land

As you can see in the photo below, a significant chunk of the Cast Member parking lot is now blocked off for the construction of a Monsters Inc. Land. The blocked off area will likely be used for staging of materials during the early phases of work, and then an indoor roller coaster will sit on a portion of the site. Our initial report of the area taking up 10 acres was pretty close. An updated estimate puts the blocked off area at around 9 acres.

To put the area into context, you can just make out Kermit’s smiling face in the upper righthand side of the photo below. Kermit’s face is the Stage 1 Company Store. The building to the left of Kermit from this perspective is MuppetVision 3D.

We can use the photo below and newly released concept art for the Monsters Inc. Land to estimate that the entrance to the roller coaster will be located roughly where the trees lining the backstage road are. More specifically, the diagonal crosswalk will likely be where the front of the roller coaster building facade will be.

Here’s a side view of the Monsters Inc. Land roller coaster model from last year’s D23 Expo.
