Blizzard Beach is now closed for refurbishment. Walt Disney World’s winter-themed water park is closed starting today, and Walt Disney World has not identified a reopening date or timeline. Interestingly, Blizzard Beach had a mini refurbishment earlier this year before both Walt Disney World water parks opened for the summer season. Here’s the latest.
Blizzard Beach Closed for Refurbishment, Typhoon Lagoon Open
Walt Disney World is back to one water park operation following the Summer season, when both water parks reopened for the first time since the COVID-19 shutdowns. It was a significant, if not short-lived, milestone. Hopefully, Walt Disney World can get back into a normal cadence with the water parks, which includes staggered operations in the off-season to allow for much-needed refurbishment. That seems to be what’s taking place.
Blizzard Beach is now closed for refurbishment, with no reopening timeframe identified. Here’s the message from the Walt Disney World website.
Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park is currently unavailable. During this time, we encourage you to visit Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park.
Walt Disney World did not return a request for more information about a reopening timeframe.
If I had to speculate (and why not), I would assume that Walt Disney World would like to get Blizzard Beach back open for the holiday season, which begins November 14, 2025. In recent years, Disney has added some extra holiday touches to the water park throughout the holiday season, and I’d imagine they’d like to do the same this year.
Right now, Typhoon Lagoon doesn’t have a refurbishment listed. It currently has park hours posted through November 17th, which is the furthest out the water park and theme park calendar goes.
