Disney Cruise Line has officially set sail on a new chapter of its story. Today, the cruise line celebrated the steel-cutting ceremony for its newest vessel—an important maritime tradition that marks the official start of a ship’s construction. While the ship’s name remains under wraps, the moment represents the culmination of years of planning and design, and the beginning of the physical build process.

Symbolic First Step in Construction

The highlight of the ceremony was the cutting of a steel plate in the shape of the ship itself. The plate featured the words “Disney Cruise Line,” symbolizing the spirit and identity of the new addition to the fleet. Selected attendees were invited to sign the piece, turning it into a keepsake that will forever commemorate the day the project moved from blueprint to reality. This tradition is not just a manufacturing milestone—it’s also a celebration of teamwork and creativity between Disney and the shipyard.

Part of the Growing Wish-Class Fleet

This yet-to-be-named vessel will become the fourth ship in Disney’s Wish class, following the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny. Each ship in the class has been designed to blend cutting-edge technology with Disney’s signature storytelling, creating immersive experiences for guests of all ages.

What We Know About the New Ship

The new ship is projected to be completed and delivered in 2027. It will measure approximately 144,000 gross tons, making it one of the largest in Disney Cruise Line’s fleet, and will have space for around 4,000 guests. Like its sister ships, it will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), one of the cleanest-burning marine fuels available today. This choice reflects Disney’s commitment to sustainable cruising and reducing environmental impact.
