Walt Disney World Resort recently posted an official notice inside the Magic Kingdom…urging visitors to leave the park. Let’s see what’s actually going on.
In July, Tom Sawyer Island, the Rivers of America, and the Liberty Square Riverboat welcomed their final Disney Park guests in preparation for a Cars (2006) expansion in Frontierland. The new area, Piston Peak National Park, will be inspired by the natural beauty of American national parks and feature two rides: a thrilling rally race and a family-friendly attraction. Although most of the Rivers of America will disappear, parts of the existing landscape will remain, including water features and a barrel bridge.

Shortly after the Frontierland attractions closed, construction walls surrounded the Rivers of America. Magic Kingdom Park guests spotted Imagineers surveying Tom Sawyer Island by boat and on foot, tagging props for archival preservation or destruction. Over the past few weeks, crews have slowly drained the water out of the Rivers of America.
Things have changed outside Magic Kingdom Park, too. Earlier this summer, crews bulldozed hundreds of trees outside the park to create temporary office trailers and an equipment staging area. This backstage space will serve as a home base for the construction of Piston Peak National Park and a Disney Villains land coming “beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.” As work begins on both expansions, the Walt Disney World Railroad is operating in “shuttle mode” between Fantasyland and Main Street, U.S.A.

On Sunday, August 3, Magic Kingdom Park guests noticed some decorations on the construction walls in Frontierland. X (formerly known as Twitter) user @DrewDisneyDude shared several photos of fake posters on the themed walls, featuring references to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and other Disney Park attractions:
New posters and signs have been installed on the construction walls outside of the Cars-themed area and Villains Land project sites at Magic Kingdom!
Strangely, one of the largest posters (in the first photo), encourages guests to visit an area outside the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks. It advertises the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, an all-you-can-eat dinner show at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds. Guests can take watercraft transportation from Magic Kingdom Park to attend performances at Pioneer Hall.

The Hoop Dee-Doo Musical Revue typically performs Wednesday through Sunday at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds. Check the Walt Disney World Resort website for showtimes and availability (reservations are required).
