For the third day in a row, a Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Central Florida area, including Walt Disney World. This continues a string of extremely hot weather, with “feels like” temperatures forecast to reach 110° today. Here’s the latest, along with advice on how you can manage the heat if you’re visiting Walt Disney World during the hot summer season.

Heat Wave Continues for Walt Disney World

We’ll start with the key messages. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Central and East Florida, including Orange County, which is where Walt Disney World is located. The heat risk is major to extreme, with forecasted “feels like” temperatures reaching up to 110°. High temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s, with humid conditions creating a “feels like” temperature that surpasses triple digits.

The Heat Advisory runs from 12pm to 6pm today. The National Weather Service recommends that you drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun during this timeframe.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Keep in mind that Disney World offers complimentary ice water at quick service locations. When visiting the parks, we make sure to stop at least once per hour to hydrate and cool down with some air conditioning. It will be imperative to stay hydrated and take breaks during a visit to Walt Disney World this summer.

Unique to today is the debut of the Disney Starlight nighttime parade. For guests planning to camp out for a spot, please ensure that you have a plan to get to shaded areas and air conditioning periodically. Ensure that you are drinking plenty of water. While we can’t predict crowds for opening night, it’s worth noting that the 11pm parade last night was extremely lightly attended. It may be wise to not camp out for the 9pm parade too early and instead stay indoors and hydrated. Many guests will leave after the 10pm showing of Happily Ever After, offering some good views for the 11pm parade without having to risk any time waiting in the sun.
