It’s no secret that there is no love lost between The Walt Disney Company and some high-ranking members of the Republican Party. Over the past few years, Disney has gotten into very public spats with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the Trump administration. The Mouse House has been repeatedly attacked and called “woke” for its DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) programs, its diverse characters, and its support of the LGBTQ community through events like Gay Days and Pride Nite.

Donald Trump doesn’t just have a problem with The Walt Disney Company and Bob Iger, he also has a very contentious relationship with California Governor Gavin Newsom.
The Trump administration and its supporters have frequently attacked the governor for the way he has run the state, calling the state “lawless” for its sanctuary state policies, its animal welfare laws, its immigration reform, and more. He even blamed the Governor for not “cleaning the forests” before massive wildfires broke out.
Newsom has always fought back against the attacks, saying the Trump administration is launching a “unified assault on American traditions.” He has also threatened to hold back paying federal taxes if Trump does not remove the California National Guard from Los Angeles and stop the dangerous ICE raids, which recently left one person dead.

With so much animosity between the Trump administration, Disney, and Gavin Newsom, many were surprised to see Vice President JD Vance visiting The Happiest Place on Earth with his wife and children.
Rumors began to swirl that Vance was planning on visiting Disneyland the day before he actually arrived, and a lot of people were not happy with the news. Protestors lined the entrance to Disneyland and protested against Vance as his motorcade.
Videos of Vance in the parks quickly went viral, mainly because he was being called out as he walked through places like Tomorrowland.
VP Vance is at Disneyland. I’m also here with my family. When I had a brief moment, I made it clear–we support immigrants, we support America. I asked the obvious question, “I thought you hate California?” Since we’ve all seen and heard the hatred coming from Vance and Trump for California and Disney…

Vance’s visit did not go unnoticed by Gavin Newsom, who shared on Threads and X (formerly Twitter), “Hope you enjoy your family time, @jdvance. The families you’re tearing apart certainly won’t.”
Governor Newsom also tweeted about Vance’s lack of response to the passage of the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” which could see as many as 17 million people lose their Medicaid health coverage and food benefits.
JD is back in California.
He won’t take the time to debate and defend gutting our Medicaid system, taking away kids school meals, militarizing America’s streets, or adding trillions to the debt.
Instead, he’s off to Disneyland. Probably to detain Mickey Mouse at this rate.

After his trip, Vance responded that he had a “great time.”
Vance’s visit trended on social media, with many wondering why the Vice President chose to visit Disneyland in California instead of heading to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Not only did Florida vote for Trump and Vance in the Presidential election, but the president recently praised Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for the opening of a new ICE detention facility in the state, nicknamed Alligator Alcatraz.
So JD Vance joins his boss in trashing California every chance he gets.
Yet when he wants to vacation with his kids, JD heads to Anaheim’s Disneyland, not Florida’s Disney World…
Just saying

Due to Vance’s visit, Disneyland guests were subjected to increased security and longer wait times, as Disney would shut down the attractions so Vance and his family could ride by themselves.
There were also reports of guests who made reservations at Disney’s Grand Californian having their reservations moved to the Pixar Place Hotel, since the Vice President and his security detail needed more rooms than were available. The Grand Californian is the most expensive hotel on property, with many considering it the most high-end of the three hotels.
Do you think Gavin Newsom was right to call out JD Vance on his visit to Disneyland? Were you surprised to see that Vance would elect to travel to Disneyland after everything the administration has said about California and Disney? Do you think Disney catered too much to the Vice President during his visit at the expense of paying guests? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
