On July 11, 2025, the iconic Disney Fantasy marked a groundbreaking moment as it docked for the first time ever in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

According to local Mallorcan news outlets, this milestone was celebrated as an “unprecedented event,” highlighting that no other Disney ship had ever visited the island, and none are currently listed to do so on the official Disney Cruise Line website.

A Rare Stop in a Unique Itinerary

This visit took place during a 12-night Greek Isles & Mediterranean voyage departing from Civitavecchia (Rome) on June 30, with scheduled stops in Athens, Santorini, Turkey, Mykonos, Malta, and Sicily. Originally, the ship was slated to call at Naples and spend more sea days, but due to new environmental guidelines under the Mediterranean’s designation as a Particularly Sensitive Sea Area (PSSA), Disney opted to replace Naples with Palma de Mallorca on July 11, making it the final port before the ship arrived in Barcelona on July 12, its final destination.

This rerouting underscores Disney’s commitment to following voluntary speed limits (10–13 knots) while sailing through PSSA zones, aiming to reduce the risk of harm to marine life.

The Disney Fantasy in Europe

For summer 2025, the Disney Fantasy is conducting its inaugural European season, with sailings ranging from 5 to 12 nights from both Barcelona and Civitavecchia. Post-July, the ship will reposition to Southampton, England, offering short voyages (3–7 nights) around the British Isles, Norway, and Spain, before returning to North America in the fall.

A Warm Welcome in Palma

Arriving in the historic harbor of Palma, the Disney Fantasy—known for its classic navy hull and red smokestacks—was met with enthusiastic applause from residents and tourists. Passengers on board celebrated the first-ever Disney presence in Mallorca with shore excursions such as:

  • Guided tours of Palma’s Old Town and the majestic Cathedral of La Seu
  • Cycling along the scenic Paseo Marítimo
  • Exploring the UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana mountains

This stop added cultural depth to the cruise and offered guests magical, local experiences before they disembarked in Barcelona the next day.

Looking Ahead: Disney Fantasy’s European Journey

After concluding in Barcelona on July 12, the Disney Fantasy will embark on several Mediterranean cruises, with timings and ports adapted to continue respecting PSSA regulations. From late July through September, the ship will reposition to Southampton and sail short routes to destinations such as Norway, the British Isles, and Spain.

A Milestone for Mallorca and Disney Cruise Line

The Disney Fantasy’s debut in Palma de Mallorca is more than a port call—it’s a historic milestone, combining a first-time arrivaleco-aware navigation, and the familiar Disney spectacle. As Mallorca basks in the limelight, Disney Cruise Line’s adaptive and environmentally sensitive itinerary hints at future possibilities, offering travelers more magical and sustainable experiences across Europe.
