There are some attractions that, over the years, have become synonymous with Disney — rides like the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, just to name a few. These attractions have inspired everything from iconic characters to memorable merchandise and even incredible movies!

And now, one of them is inspiring the very first public lounge at the Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom!

Earlier this year, Disney announced that two new lounges were coming to The Most Magical Place On Earth — Geo-82 at EPCOT and The Beak and Barrel at the Magic Kingdom.

The Beak and Barrel will be open to swashbuckling guests of all ages and offer a variety of delicious drinks and mouthwatering bites to satiate the hunger built up from running around the park. Guests 21 and over can drink like a pirate and add a little something extra to their Disney libations.

According to Disney, this won’t just be any lounge. Guests who visit The Beak and Barrel will be treated to interactive experiences like storytelling, sing-alongs, and “enchanting surprises.”

As of right now, Disney has not announced when The Beak and Barrel will open, but has confirmed that it will open in late 2025. Disney is doing a lot to prepare for the theme park’s first public lounge, including improving the attraction that started it all.

Disney fan Belle (@FiBelleFi) recently visited the Magic Kingdom and rode Pirates of the Caribbean. While riding, she noticed that many of the animatronics seemed to be moving more than they had in the past. It was a marked difference from the many complaints guests have made about broken animatronics on rides like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

I want to acknowledge how incredible Florida’s Pirates currently looks. There is so much movement in ALL the figures, more than I can recall seeing in my adulthood.

This was accomplished over a period of time and appears complete to me, coinciding with bar opening soon.

Many commenters agreed with Belle’s assessment that the attraction is looking better than it has in years. However, there were several who commented that there are still some aspects of the dark ride that need to be fixed.

One person noted that the legendary dog holding the keys in the prison scene appeared to look mangy, and this was on their most recent visit, so Disney has not fixed this issue yet.

Something has happened to the hair on the dog holding the keys in his mouth at the end of the ride! It looks nangy, a lot of hair is missing! It was so awful, I had to look away, just couldn’t stand seeing my favorite, (since I was a child) scene looking so sad!! This was 6/27.

Others noted that smaller effects, like running chickens and a flower pot that is shot, also need to be fixed. And with Disney working hard to prepare for the opening of The Beak and Barrel, it’s entirely possible that those fixes are on the way!

You might have noted that we referred to The Beak and Barrel as the Magic Kingdom’s first “public lounge”. That is because McKim’s Mile House opened in Frontierland on March 18, 2025. However, that lounge is only available to Disney Vacation Club members. The Beak and Barrel will be open to all guests visiting the Magic Kingdom.

Inside the Magic will keep readers updated as Disney shares more details, like an opening date and a menu. So, stay tuned for more info!
