It’s been a little while since we’ve checked in on the Polynesian Village Resort lobby map, but we remembered to check on it during a recent visit and found that the Island Tower was added. It could’ve been like this since December for all I know, but I wanted to grab some photos and put a bow on our coverage that has included a pre-construction photo, Luau Cove removal, and now the addition of the Island Tower. Here’s a look!
Island Tower Added to Polynesian Village Resort Lobby Map
We’ll start this update with a look back at the map before Luau Cove was removed. Luau Cove was a corner of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort that offered a lush walking area, the Spirit of Aloha dinner show, and some beach. For a look at Luau Cove before construction began, check out our article from April 2022.
As you can see in the first photo below, Luau Cove was seen on the far left-hand side of the resort map hung in the lobby.

By September 2022, Luau Cove was removed from the map – painted over to represent the area as green space. In reality, it was a construction zone for the all-new Island Tower.

While visiting Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort recently, we stopped to snap some photos of the updated map. Here’s a close look at the map, followed by a few zoomed-out photos to show where the map can be found in the lobby.

Here’s a slider of the before/after of the image, showcasing the addition of the Island Tower and pool area on the left side. Another notable change is the change in font for “Polynesian Village” in the lower right of the image. Other elements appear to be similar or the same. Here’s a before/after slider of the map.
