Last week, a Walt Disney World Resort shared their experience getting trapped on the Soarin’ Around the World attraction at EPCOT for over 30 minutes. Dozens of Disney Park guests were stuck in the air after the ride suddenly ceased operations, and one rider apparently vomited during the shutdown.

This flight-simulator attraction first opened at EPCOT as Soarin’ Over California in 2005, following an attraction of the same name that premiered at Disneyland Resort’s Disney California Adventure Park in 2001. In 2016, the Walt Disney World Resort version transformed into Soarin’ Around the World, and Soaring Over the Horizon premiered at Shanghai Disneyland. Three years later, Tokyo Disney Resort debuted its own version of the attraction, Soaring: Fantastic Flight.

With so many locations worldwide, Soarin’ is a must-do part of the Disney Park experience for many guests. However, dozens of EPCOT visitors might hesitate before getting back in line for the attraction after an experience they had last week.

On Wednesday, TikTok user @kettlecornmakspam shared this video of a group of riders trapped on Soarin’ Around the World at EPCOT. According to the Disney Park guest, riders were trapped almost 80 feet up for over 30 minutes after the attraction abruptly broke down. One rider reportedly vomited during the shutdown.

“We have been up here for 30 min and someone barfed,” the TikToker captioned the video.

Disney cast members eventually evacuated the guests and gave them two free Lightning Lanes as compensation for the experience. Riders even received passes without restrictions, meaning they could ride top-tier attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

“Update we got 2 free lighting lanes and rode Guardians twice in a row,” the TikToker wrote.

Walt Disney World Resort rarely comments publicly on ride breakdowns, and this instance was no different. However, Soarin’ Around the World eventually reopened and operated normally in the days following the incident.
