While it was the brand new The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure marquee that first caught our eye at Hollywood Studios this morning, there is more to report on! Just steps away, Animation Courtyard is getting dressed up for the Cool Kid Summer activation. The Disney Jr. meet and greet areas were all closed earlier this month (and the characters relocated), but now we spotted some new theming taking place at their former meet and greet spaces. In fact, there are splashes of color throughout the Disney Junior Dance Party building. The best part? It’s all themed to animation…in Animation Courtyard!

Animation Courtyard Decorated for Cool Kid Summer

In an astonishing turn of events, Animation Courtyard did not introduce new theming centered around Star Wars or Disney Jr., but rather…animation. Cool Kid Summer will introduce the “Get Animated” activation, which will include games and crafts to keep kids moving and creating all day long. There will also be magicians, jump rope performers, and an imaginary obstacle course. There will also be interactive fun with Characters where guests can play along with Mickey, beloved Disney Junior friends, and more at an indoor DJ dance party.

Vibrant backdrops have been introduced to not only the former meet and greets, but also to the Disney Jr. Dance Party queue, and even the building itself! The backdrops feature pencils and paintbrushes, creating scenes to serve as backdrops for guests. It’s still a work in progress, but here’s a look around.
