What appeared to begin as a targeted refurbishment of one section of Magic Kingdom’s popular Emporium gift shop, has now expanded clear across the multi-block shopping space on Main Street USA. No sooner had construction wrapped up on the north end of the Emporium than new walls appeared on the south end of the gift shop. We made it out to Magic Kingdom this morning to take a look at the latest construction progress!
Emporium Gift Shop: New Registers
We’ll start at the north end of the gift shop, where a redesigned space has removed some walls to create an easier pedestrian experience. In addition, carpet and wood flooring have been replaced by faux-wood tile – something that will surely handle the foot traffic better over the next 50 years. Here’s a look at the reimagined space, with a focus on the newly revealed area that now features more registers than before (not good news for my “War on Registers” article from February 2024).

Emporium Gift Shop: New Construction Walls, Full Refresh Inevitable?
Now, construction has moved to the south end of the gift shop, and this construction is a little bit interesting. It can be a claustrophobic section of the gift shop, and it contains an egress, so there are some similarities to the recently refreshed space, but there are some differences too. There are no walls to remove from this section of the gift shop, and I believe the flooring was already tile. Without a super targeted refresh condition like carpet or walls, these construction walls could suggest a full refresh of the Emporium is on the way. We’ll keep checking back!
