Walt Disney World is about a month into a yearlong room refurbishment at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. The refurbishment, which began back in late March, will continue through February 2026 as Disney refreshes the guest rooms at the 21-year-old hotel. Walt Disney World hasn’t officially said what will take place during the refurbishment, but we made it out to the resort for a sneak peek at the work.

Room Refurbishment at Disney’s Pop Century Resort
The work is currently limited to the 50’s section of the resort, with only a portion of the guest rooms currently under construction. An early permit for the work grants contractor JCQ Services access to Building 1, Building 2, and Building 3 – all part of the 50’s section.

Contractor JCQ Services has set up a small headquarters on the north end of the sprawling Pop Century Resort campus, and shouldn’t impact the guest experience too much. That said, we did see some guests staying in a building that had construction taking place. If you’re planning on staying at Disney’s Pop Century over the next year or so, we’d recommend requesting a room far away from the 50’s section.

With JCQ Services at the helm, we saw other businesses on site to perform some of the work such as N&J Flooring Services LLC for flooring replacement work, and Intex for repainting. Here’s a look around at the work, which appears to be limited to Building 1 (Rooms 1101-1472) at the moment.

In terms of the work that we saw, the refurbishment would be considered a “soft goods” refurbishment. Years ago, a soft goods refurbishment may have meant that pillows and duvets were changed, along with some lite work. Now, the definition of a soft goods refurbishment has expanded to include furniture replacements, light fixtures, and even flooring replacements. That stands in contrast to a “hard goods” refurbishment, which is more aligned with what we’d think of as a reimagining. Hard goods refurbishments typically see things like new or adjusted plumbing, perhaps room realignments, and walls replaced. It’s a far more invasive process than a “soft goods” refurbishment.
It’s probably worth noting that Disney’s Pop Century Resort saw a complete overhaul of the rooms that was completed in 2018, so while we’re coming up on the 10-year anniversary of that work in a few years – we aren’t there yet. I’d expect that the work taking place now will take us past the 10-year anniversary and into the future.
In terms of what we observed during our visit, we’d expect that the rooms will look the same when they reopen, with new flooring and a fresh coat of paint. I’m not sure that we can expect any new light fixtures or furniture, but we aren’t privy to the exact details. Here’s a tour of the current work for the Pop Century Resort room refurbishment of Building 1.
