Walt Disney World Resort abruptly closed one of its most popular restaurants on Tuesday. Guests who looked up ‘Ohana on the My Disney Experience mobile app were greeted with a pop-up warning that the Table Service dining location inside Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort would not be operating that evening.

‘Ohana opened at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in April 1995. The Table Service restaurant offers a character-dining breakfast with Lilo, Stitch, and friends and a family-style, all-you-care-to-enjoy dinner featuring Hawaiian-inspired cuisine, including the beloved ‘Ohana noodles, chicken skewers, and coconut bread pudding. Breakfast prices range from $35 to $59.99, while dinner costs at least $60 per guest.

Like most restaurants around Walt Disney World Resort, ‘Ohana offers reservations 60 days in advance–and they fill up fast. Although the restaurant offers a walk-up list, reservations are highly recommended. The restaurant is accessible to all Walt Disney World Resort guests, not just those staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Instead of driving to the Disney Resort hotel, guests are encouraged to park at the Transportation & Ticket Center and take the Monorail over. Guests without vehicles can take bus or boat transportation to Magic Kingdom Park and transfer to the Monorail.

Needless to say, many guests start looking forward to their meal at ‘Ohana months in advance. Unfortunately, on Tuesday, thousands of guests were warned to stay away from the Table Service dining location when it abruptly shut down. The My Disney Experience app displayed this pop-up notification:

“Operating Hours Update

‘Ohana is unexpectedly closed for dinner tonight.

We apologize for the inconvenience. Please use My Disney Experience to check for availability at one of our other dining locations.”

Walt Disney World Resort didn’t share the reason for the sudden Ohana closure. It remains unclear whether other Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort dining locations were affected.

According to the My Disney Experience app, ‘Ohana will remain closed for the rest of the night. Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t shared whether the restaurant will reopen for breakfast in the morning.

Guests with ‘Ohana reservations on March 18 should check the My Disney Experience app for alternate restaurant reservations or to join walk-up lists for other dining locations. Although ‘Ohana typically charges a no-show fee, guests shouldn’t be charged for missing their dining reservations in this instance.
