“Oh! I’m like the Crypt Keeper!”

If that line made you smile, then you probably recognized it as one of Jamie Lee Curtis’s iconic lines in the 2003 Disney film Freaky Friday. The hilarious remake starred Jamie Lee Curtis as Tess Coleman and Lindsay Lohan as her teenage daughter Anna. Tess is a rigid single mom trying her best to raise Anna and her younger brother Harry.

Unfortunately, Tess and Anna are incredibly different people, and they just don’t understand each other. Tess cannot comprehend that Tess wants to be her own person and express herself in creative ways, like through music and playing with her band.

Anna, on the other hand, thinks that her mom is way too strict. She doesn’t understand why her mom is so pushy and doesn’t support the things that Anna loves. She also thinks that Tess’s boyfriend, Ryan, tries too hard, and she isn’t super interested in him trying to take on a father role in her life.

Then, after one fateful meal at a Chinese restaurant, Anna and Tess receive the shock of their lives. They wake up in each other’s bodies.

A young woman with long blonde hair and a concerned expression leans on a staircase railing, looking forward. Beside her, an older woman with short reddish-brown hair, also with a worried look, is dressed in white pajamas and holds the railing with both hands—two major characters returning for Freaky Friday 2.
