As we continue to wait and see what will take shape in the Hotel du Canada structure, we recently got a sneak peek inside at the work taking place. The work is interesting, as it appears that Walt Disney World is preparing to open a long-dormant space in the second level of the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT. Not much is known about Project Maple, including what the purpose of the new space is, but we made it out to EPCOT recently and got a small peek inside the space.

Canada Pavilion Mystery Project

Of course, when we say sneak peek inside, that’s thanks to a zoom lens – not due to entering any restricted areas. There is a vantage point near the top of the stairs that gives us a glimpse into the project site, and here’s what we could see.

If you’re not familiar with the Canada Pavilion at EPCOT, it contains a shop and a “circle-vision” movie. There is also a table-service restaurant and some wonderful rockwork, as seen in the photo above. There is also a large (faux) hotel called Hotel du Canada. Years and years ago, there was a store called La Boutique des Provinces. It closed in the early 2000s and nothing guest-facing has opened since then.

Back in June 2024, construction walls returned to the Canada Pavilion following a refurbishment of the exterior of the building to support new work on the interior of the building.

The work has been extensive, but as we’ll soon see, there is still plenty of work to be done inside the venue before whatever it is opens to guests.

These last two photos offer a sneak peek inside, where the venue appears to be mostly still early phases of drywall. It’s unclear what the space will be when it reopens, but the leading theory is that it’ll be a bar.
