According to the Walt Disney World calendar, Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park is scheduled to be closed starting March 30th, with its final day of seasonal operation scheduled for March 29th. If Walt Disney World were to keep with recent, post-COVID tradition, that means that Typhoon Lagoon would reopen on March 30th and operate through the Summer and into Fall. However, there is something interesting on the park hours calendar starting March 30th.
Could Both Disney World Water Parks Operate at the Same Time?
Starting March 30th, neither Blizzard Beach water park nor Typhoon Lagoon water park have operating hours. Usually, we’d see the switch where one park closes and the other opens, as has been tradition following COVID-era adjustments and cutbacks. However, Walt Disney World has to go back to operating both of its world-class water parks at some point, right?
The fact that both water parks have no hours starting March 30th could mean a few different things:
- First, it could be a website/app glitch. Disney is no stranger to putting out incorrect information on its website and My Disney Experience app.
- Another possibility, although extremely unlikely, is that both water parks will, in fact, be closed starting March 30th. I can’t imagine that’s the case.
- Another possibility is that the seasonal closures will continue, and Blizzard Beach has correct hours (closing starting March 30th), and Typhoon Lagoon does not have correct hours. In this scenario, we’d see Walt Disney World load in corrected hours for Typhoon Lagoon after this article is published.
- The final scenario is the one that we’re most hopeful for – neither Typhoon Lagoon nor Blizzard Beach have correctly posted operating hours because they’ll both be open starting March 30th.
With the new water parks perk for Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests now available, you’d have to imagine that demand for the perk will increase as temperatures in Central Florida do, with peak utilization during the Summer months.
With so many guests now able to visit a water park for free on the first day of their vacation, demand for one water park might reach a breaking point. Demand has already been bursting at the seams last Summer at Typhoon Lagoon, and Walt Disney World could keep Blizzard Beach open this summer to alleviate the stress.
As a reminder, the water parks used to go through shorter refurbishment phases, closing seasonally during the winter months for maintenance, and both reopening during the Summer to allow for much higher demand.
Walt Disney World has not responded to a request for comment.
